C:LoI is the sole reason I own a PS2, and MGS:Substance is the reason I’m keeping it. In fact, those are the only two PS2 games I own. That is, until now…
I’ll buy this game.
My favorite traditional-style castlevania was Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, which features Trevor Belmont, Grant Danasty, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard. The idea of a close-term follow-up makes me even more excited about this game! These are legendary characters to me, especially Trevor. I loved seeing him and the rest of the CVIII cast in Symphony of the Night, collectively as a boss, even though it wasn’t *really* them. It may have been the high point of the game for me. That, or all the fun I had laughing at the worst voice acting I’ve ever heard in a video game. Man, was it bad.
The Innocent Devils sound like the summons in SotN to me. Especially the little demon thing that pressed switches for you. Heh heh. “Look, a switch. I wonder what happens if I press it!” Bahahaha.
It’s great to see some incorporation of the cancelled CV:Resurrection. I’ve been upset about that one for a while. It would have sold me a Dreamcast I think.
The bosses at the end of LoI are not hard. In fact, once you understand it, the final battle against Death is easier than the Forgotten One in the basement.
The screenshots look a little rough, but I imagine they’ll look better in motion than still, like most games do.
