Anachronistic Richter Belmont appearance in Portrait of Ruin knocks my socks off

cm-por-richtermariaCheck out DS-X2 for a link to a Japanese trailer for the upcoming Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for Nintendo DS. Sharp eyes will note that right around the two minute mark, for less than a second, you’ll see Richter Belmont, with what appears to be Maria Renard in tow, running across a drawbridge. Oh Koji Igarashi, that tickles!

Now, this is a bit odd because they’re about a century from contemporary with this game, which is set in 1944. Time travel? Unlockable characters that unapologetically make no sense in this context? Who cares! All that matters is that one of the most consistent long-running gaming franchises continues to rock this hard.
