Rumors have surfaced in the past day that Konami is currently making a Castlevania compilation for Wii and PSP. Nintendo Life cites an “anonymous source” for this information. Titles mentioned in the rumor include the NES, SNES, and Genesis games as well as Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. With no real source for this, we’ll call this an interesting rumor. Here’s what else Nintendo Life has to say.
Sadly our source – who obviously wishes to remain nameless at this point in time – is under the impression that it is unlikely that the two Nintendo 64 games will feature on the collection. The three GBA adventures – and the trio of monochrome Game Boy titles – are also likely to be absent.
While I certainly welcome any and all Castlevania products, I have a hard time accepting that this is going to come about. With all these platforms allegedly involved, it seems unlikely that something like this could be pulled off inexpensively. On the other hand, with the games already available for various platforms in an emulated format, it wouldn’t cost very much to develop such a collection, particularly with Konami’s traditionally… let’s say spartan treatment of such things.
Personally, I would LOVE to be able to take such a collection with me on PSP.

So lemme get this straight, this collection will include:
Castlevania NES
Simon's Quest
Castlevania III
Super Castlevania IV
Castlevania Bloodlines
Rondo of Blood
Symphony of the Night
in one package? Consider me sold if it happens. I don't have a PSP but I'll gladly shell money out for this on the Wii. Hoping it's all at a reasonable price though since you can get a majority of these games on the Wii's Virtual Console already.
That is the unconfirmed rumor. Naturally, I'd be sold as well… but then, I buy all of them. I would just hope they'd release the PSP version as a UMD, simply because then it gets to go on my shelf and I get a manual. I'd buy both the PSP and Wii versions as a matter of duty.
This sounds too good to be true. Although look how many compilation games were on the PS2. Capcom Classics Collection Vol 1 and 2, Megaman, Street Fighter, SNK Anthology, A few different Sonic Compilations, at least 2 Sega Genesis Compilations. Its about time they do one for Castlevania. I would like to see the 3 NES games, Super CV4, Rondo of Blood, SOTN, all 3 GBA games, and I guess they would probably put Lament on there too.
Indeed, it does. I've been wondering for years why they didn't compile Castlevania games. When Koji Igarashi said he was planning something special for the 20th Anniversary, I was excited, but it only turned out to be either the Portrait of Ruin preorder bonus or Dracula X Chronicles. I'm hoping that, if they even do this, they'll tuck all the versions of Castlevania on there, not just the NES one.
I wouldn't expect Lament of Innocence. That was a PS2 game, so it would take up most, if not all, of a DVD on its own. Even if it only took up 3/4 of it, you couldn't put that in a PSP game.
Well 2011 is the 25th anniversary from the original Japan release in '86, so perhaps we will get something special then. They released Castlevania Chronicles in 2001 for the 15th year so I expect something in 2011, but hopefully a big compilation and not just 1 or 2 games.
