While it’s not the same as seeing an ESRB rating for us here in North America, it may be the next best thing: a rating for the PC-Engine game, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, with Nintendo listed as publisher (which implies, but does not directly say, Virtual Console). What’s remarkable here is that it’s pretty uncommon that games are localized for Virtual Console release, as was done with the menus for Sin & Punishment.
Keep in mind that the game has already been localized by Konami, though, for its release on the PSP in Dracula X Chronicles. This is probably going to be the same localization we experienced there.
How do we know it would be localized? It’s an assumption based on the fact that the game is not called Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo, as it was in Japan. Further, how do we know they don’t mean Castlevania: Dracula X for SNES? Well, they’d probably call it that, if it was that. But… maybe not.
The rating is M for violence, but that might not mean an ESRB rating of M. Australians rate games a little more harshly than we do in the US.
