When I spotted one of these on eBay about two weeks ago, I was pretty sure I had to have one. It’s a video cassette that was published by Game Player’s Magazine in the 1980s with strategies for a handful of Konami video games. Castlevania, The Adventures of Bayou Billy, Blades of Steel, and Track & Field II are mentioned. While this normally wouldn’t catch my eye, the trademark silver packaging and giant black official Konami logo showed me this is an officially sanctioned thing, which means it will suit my collection just fine.
What held me back from buying was that I wasn’t keen on picking up a beat up old videocassette for more than a buck or two. It turns out my instincts to hold off proved wise. Another seller turned up a few days later with a brand new, factory sealed one, for not much more money. I bought it, and it came today in the mail. Have a look below for more pictures.
